Ingredients:
- 250g of ground beef
- 100g of cheddar cheese, grated
- 200g of puff pastry
- 1 medium onion, finely chopped
- 1 clove of garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon of olive oil
- 1 teaspoon of dried oregano
- Salt to taste
- Pepper to taste
- 1 egg, beaten for egg wash
Kitchen Tools Needed:
- Oven
- Baking dish
- Knife
- Cutting board
- Mixing bowl
- Rolling pin
Instructions:
- Preheat the oven to 200°C (392°F).
- In a skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic, sauté until translucent.
- Add the ground beef, breaking it apart with a spoon. Cook until browned. Season with oregano, salt, and pepper.
- Once cooked, remove from heat and let it cool slightly. Stir in half of the grated cheddar cheese.
- Roll out the puff pastry on a floured surface until it's about 3mm thick. Cut it into strips about 2cm wide for the lattice top.
- In a baking dish, spread the beef and cheese mixture evenly. Top with the remaining grated cheddar cheese.
- Create a lattice pattern on top by weaving the pastry strips over the filling.
- Brush the pastry lattice with the beaten egg to give it a golden color while baking.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the pastry is golden brown and cooked through.
- Once done, remove from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes before serving.
